17 June 1933	Vernon Presley and Gladys Love Smith married in Pontotoc Mississippi
8 Jan 1935	Born Elvis Aron Presley on Thursday 4.35am in East Tupelo. Twin brother Garon Presley is stillborn.
9 Jan 1935	Jesse Garon Presley buried in the Priceville Cemetery northeast of Tupelo
10 Jan 1936	Dr. William R. Hunt signs Elvis' birth certificate, and Jesse Garon's death certificate.
1 June 1938-6 Feb 1939	Vernon Presley served a term of imprisonment for forgery in the Parchman Mississippi Penitentiary.
25 May 1945	Priscilla Ann Wagner (Beaulieu) born.
3 Oct 1945	Elvis wins 2nd place talent show of Mississippi-Alabama Fair & Dairy Show.(disputed)
8 Jan 1946	On Elvis' 11th birthday, his parents buy him a $7.86 guitar at the Tupelo Hardware Store.He wanted a bicycle but they couldn’t afford one.
12 Sept 1948	Moved from Tupelo, Mississippi, to Memphis, Tennessee, a one-bedroom apartment at 572 Poplar Avenue. Spends his high school years hanging round Beale St.
20 Sept 1949	Moved from 572 Poplar Avenue to a two-bedroom apartment in the Lauderdale Courts at 185 Winchester Street
1950	Memphis Recording Service founded by Sam Phillips
3 June 1951	Elvis begins work at Precision Tool. Lasted one month
7 Jan 1953	Presleys evicted moved to 398 Cypress Street
April 1953	Moved to 462 Alabama Street
3 Jun 1953	Elvis Presley graduates L.C. Humes High School.
July 1953	Begins work at Crown Electric Co.
August 1953	Recorded "My Happiness" (as a birthday present for Gladys)& "That's When Your Heartaches Begin" on a ten-inch acetate record at the Memphis Recording Service. He left with the original. He paid $4 for the privilege.
4 Jan 1954	Recorderd “Casual Love Affair” & “I’ll Never Stand In Your Way”.Met Sam Phillips who assembles his first back up band.
5 July 1954	First commercial recording session at Sun Records. First song out on tape was "Harbor Lights" followed by "I Love You Because." "That's All Right was recorded later that evening
7 July 1954	Dewey Phillips on WHBQ first disc jockey to play an Elvis song on the air with “That’s All Right”. Elvis first media interview
1955	Sam Phillips sells Elvis’ contract to RCA Victor for $25,000. Elvis got $5000. He bought Gladys a pink Cadillac.
8 Jan 1955	Elvis' 20th birthday he appears on the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport, Louisiana at the Municipal auditorium.
6 Feb 1955	Meets Col. Tom Parker for the first time, at North Hall Auditorium, Memphis.
13 May 1955	Performance in Jacksonville FL results in riots. The first of many to come.
20 Nov 1955	Signs 1st contract with RCA
1956	Begins working with the Jordannaires his main back up group til the late ‘60’s.
5 June 1956	Appeared on the ‘Milton Berle Show’ to ‘Hound Dog” appalls media and adults alike.
9 Jan 1956	Elvis 21st Birthday
27 Jan 1956	Heartbreak Hotel released. 8 weeks at No.1 on Billboards pop singles chart. His first got record.
March 1956	Colonel Thomas Parker officially becomes Presley’s manager taking 25% of earnings.
13 March 1956	First Album ‘Elvis Presley’ released, No 1 for 10 weeks, over $1 million sales. Elvis’ first gold album.
April 1956	Screen test for Paramount Pictures signs a 7 yr contract that week.
August 1956	First movie “Love Me Tender”
4 Dec 1956	The Million Dollar Quartet: Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash jam at Sun Studio.
8 Jan 1957	Elvis gets drafted on his 22nd Birthday
7 Mar 1957	Elvis Presley purchases Graceland for $102,500.
24 Mar 1958	Elvis Presley reports for duty after being drafted into the Army. The next day he receives the best-documented haircut in history.
14 Aug 1958	Mother Gladys Presley dead of acute hepatitis.
Nov 1959	While stationed in Germany, a 24-year-old Elvis Presley meets 14-year-old Priscilla Beaulieu at a party.
20 Jan 1960	Promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
5 Mar 1960	Discharged from active duty.
March 1957	Priscilla moves into Graceland.
Oct 1962	The Mexican government bans the screening of Elvis movies after a riot in a Mexico City theater showing G.I. Blues.
Dec 1962	17-year-old Priscilla Beaulieu spends the Christmas holiday with Elvis at Graceland, without her parents.
Jan 1964	Purchases Franklin D. Roosevelt's yacht Potomac, $55,000.
27 Aug 1965	Jams with The Beatles at Graceland. No one thought to record the historic event.
1 May 1967	Marries Priscilla, at the Aladdin Hotel Las Vegas NV.
1 Feb 1968	Only child, Lisa Marie Presley, born, 6 pounds, 15 ounces.
3 Dec 1968	The 1968 Comeback Special is aired, garnering 54 million viewers.
1970	U.S. Jaycees name Elvis one of the ‘Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Nation.
21 Dec 1970	President Richard M. Nixon receives Elvis Presley in the Oval Office of the White House.
18 Jan 1972	Elvis Presley Boulevard officially “re-opened”.
Oct 1972	Elvis last top 20 hit “ Burning Love” made No. 2.
Jan 1973	"Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii - Via Satellite" recorded. Airs in the U.S. on April 4 & broadcast to more than a billion viewers in more than 40 countries seen by more American households than that famous walk!!! ( Neil Armstrongs walk on the moon).All proceeds from the show were donated by Elvis to the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial.Thanks to him they were able to finish it.
15 Oct 1973	Hospitalized for recurring pneumonia. Dependency on prescription drugs and his weight become worse from here on.
19 Oct 1973	Elvis and Priscilla granted divorce. Priscilla gets custody of Lisa Marie.
23 Nov 1976	Jerry Lee Lewis arrested, Graceland.
2 Dec 1976	His last Las Vegas engagement. 2 weeks at the Las Vegas Hilton.
3 Mar 1977	Elvis Presley signs his Last Will and Testament.
26 Jun 1977	Final concert performance, Market Square Arena, Indianapolis IN.
16 Aug 1977	Elvis Presley dies in his home at the age of 42 just before 2pm found by then girlfriend Ginger Alden. He had been reading “The Scientific Search for the Face of Jesus.”He was pronounced dead on arrival at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
2 Oct 1977	Elvis Presley moved from Forest Hills Cemetery to the Meditation Garden at Graceland, after vandals tried to remove the body. Gladys was also moved there.
1981	An Eternal flame honoring Elvis is lit at Graceland. It burns out a few years later and is never relit.
7 Jun 1982	Graceland doors opened to the public as a tourist attraction. That day, 3,024 people visit. Twenty years later, 600,000 people visit the home annually, making it second only to the White House.
1987	Elvis's favourite horse Rising Sun a golden Palomino purchased by Elvis in 1966, dies at Graceland.
24 Feb 1992	Postal patrons are offered the choice to between Fat Elvis (The Vegas Years) and Thin Elvis for depiction on an American postage stamp. Thin Elvis defeats Fat Elvis.
1992	The Republic of the Marshall Islands issues legal tender depicting Elvis's likeness, which are sold to gullible Americans who think the coins have some modicum of value. Royalties are paid to Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc.
25 July 1997	First Elvis Club “Elvis Presley’s Memphis” opens on Beale St Memphis.
8 Jan 1993	The (Thin) Elvis postage stamp is issued.Becomes the top selling US commmemorative postage stamp of all time.
1 Feb 1998	Daughter Lisa Marie Presley (at one point married to Michael Jackson) turns 30 and becomes sole heir to the Elvis Presley fortune. It is difficult to judge the value of the estate, but it is believed to be around $500M. (Note that Elvis' liquid assets were about $500,000 when he died.)
28 Feb 2001	Elvis Presley tops Forbes magazines first annual list of Top-Earning Dead Celebrities, with a cool Y2K income of $35M, of which $15M came from Graceland admission.
